About 30 men were found playing-bil-liards in . a local s saloon on Anzac Day/ and to-day they were fined for so doing. Mr.;' Barton, S.M., pointed I out that it was not a criminal offence/- but a pretty severe - offence .* against - public • taste. The day was set % aside to keep alive the memory of the , landing on Gallipoli. .He would like each' one of the defendants to try and get a copy of the history of the landing' on , Anzac Day. * It -' would give them -a, thrill and take their minds off billiards ■■■ on such , a sacred day. . <
