RETURNED SOLDIER FARMER.

A returned soldier named Bertram L. Hooker- was to-day charged with the theft of money which it was .alleged should have been accounted for to tho Commissioner of Crown Lands for the sale of stock when accused was farming at Pukokaha. A large number of animals were sold, and it was alleged that defendant received £358. Defendant pleaded not guilty, reserved his defence, and was committed for trial at the Supreme Court in Wanganui on May 20. ' ; '
