A GATHERING OF MAORIS. /: --■ '"■ DEMIJOHN OE BEER. r BY TELEGRAPH.— c COBKCSI'OKDENT./ OPOTIKI, Thursday. : Charged in the Police Court to-day with supplying liquor to' Maoris off licensed premises, Edward Ferdinand Johnson pleaded not guilty. \ , Evidence by natives showed that the contents of a five-gallon demijohn of b'eer were consumed at a gathering of natives at accused's house at Waiawa. " Accused was convicted and fined £55 and costs, in default three months'' imprisonment with hard labour at Auckland Gaol.
