ONEHUNGA DRAINAGE.
LOAN POLL CARRIED.
AUTHORITY TO BORROW £34.700.
A poll taken' on Wednesday on the proposal to borrow £34,700, to drain the eastern part of the borough, was carried by slightly over two to one. The voting was: For,' 154; against, 76"; majority for, 78.
Out of 609 entitled to vote, 231 exercised their franchise.
A similar scheme to drain a portlion of the area affected was defeated about three years ago. ~ .?"
The plans for the new works are sufficiently advanced to enable the contract to be let as soon as the formalities are completed, and the result will be that the whole of Onehunga will be equipped with modern drainage.
