TO-DAY'S FORECAST.

GOVERNMENT REPORT.

The Government meteorologist reported last night as follows :—Present indications are for easterly winds, strong to a gale northward of East Cape and Kawhia, variable winds, easterlies to northerlies prevailing, and increasing elsewhere. Stormy weather with heavy rain may be expected in the northern districts, skies clouding over for a change to follow shortly elsewhere. Barometer falling in the north, but unsteady in the south.

CYCLONIC STORM EXPECTED.

The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied tv us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:— The wecather is likely to become cloudy to overcast, with heavy rain following generally, accompanied by easterly to north-easterly winds, strong to gale, under the influence of a cyclonic disturbance of combined tropical and Antarctic character developing to the north-west of the Dominion. Seas rough and increasing, and becoming very heavy shortly on East Coast, and northward of Whangarei. There are indications that this storm system, is of considerable intensity. Barometer, midnight—; falling.
