IMPROVING A CORNER.
MANUKAU ROAD AND AYR ST.
The purchase by the City Council of two sections at» the corner of Manukau Road and Ayr Street for street improvement purposes was explained by the Mayor, Mr. J. H. Gunson, ad the meeting of the council last evening. He stated that the sale of the Church of England property was brought under his notice by Mr. T. Bloodworth, who suggested that a very bad corner could be improved by the purchase of one of these sections. It was felt Jo was in the interests of the city to ease the acut6 angle at the corner and thus give better access to the Domain Drive. Two seciiions had, however, been acquired, the reason being that after the necessary land had been taken for street widening, the residue would better lend itself to subdivision and eventually sell for as much as was paid for the (Jwo sections. The Works Committee is to go into the question of improving the corner.
