LAND FOR RACING CLUB.
STRIP OF PEAOH PARADE.
CITY COUNCIL'S DECISION.
The City Council last evening decided to reduce the width of Peach Parade by 14ft., for a distance of 1628 ft., provided the Auckland Racing Club would take over the strip at valuation by the city ■valuer, on the understanding that the proceeds from the sale of the strip would be devojted to improving the remainder of the street. - " • ''
In a report the city engineer stated that the parade was now 80ft. in width, and expressed the opinion that 66ft. would always be ample. The city valuer valued this piece of land, comprising about 2 roods 3 perches, and extending along the boundary of the Racing Club's property to .Ladies' Mile,, at £560. On the recommendation of the Works Committee the council decided to close the portion of the street referred to on the Racing Club agreeing to pay £560, together with the cost of closing and transfer.
