PLANS TO BE PREPARED.
PIPES FOR FIRST SECTION.
A further step in the direction of preparing for the erection of ttho proposed impounding dam in the Huia Valley to augment the city water supply, was taken by the City Council last evening, when the city engineer was instructed to prepare working plans and specifications for the structure, with the object of calling for tenders. . A contract has already been let for the pipes for the first section, as far ag Titirangi, of the Huia scheme. The pipe line, which for a time will bring in .Nihotupu T-.ater, to supplement the present city supply, will have a capacity of eleven million gallons daily, increasing the daily delivery to the city by 137 per .cent., bringing it up to nineteen millions daily. The pipe line, w*hich will connect with the Khyber Pass reservoir, should be in service at the end of this year. ■>.... ■
