Thomson, in favour of Ifwersen ~ in , the Auckland v. East Coast ' combined teams trial match on Saturday last. ; It is, contended that the , selectors exceeded tfiieir - powers in playing.lfwersen. iat all, in so. far that the latter, apart from being excluded from the . original selection, is a reinstated: player., Further, ,as: he had no ohance of being in the final choice, it is contended that , he. should never have been played in what . was : purely « trial match.':-;' , ■ ?i '-y ;■■■ 1 - It is thought that Thomson, who , was on the line, stripped, when , Badeley was hurt, was considered good enough to come under the selectors' eye, "but was robbed of his chance.' A Waikato Union official's voice was raised in protest at the time, but was ignored, it is understood, not only by the selectors, but by the president. of tne New - Zealand Rugby Union.. - The matter will be further ventilated at the next meeting of . the Waikato Union. • _• " ' :
