NEEDY GERMAN STUDENTS
HELP FROM NEW ZEALAND. At the annual meeting of the Students' Association of Victoria College last weak it was- decided to express sympathy with the effort by university students pi | the world :to . relieve " distress : among students in Europe.', It was stated : that the greatest need now exists in Germany, •and the meeting voted the sum of £10 as the nucleus of a fund for assisting students; in that country. ■ .;^:£; : --'-:-:''-. -.' It was ■ 'stated -V; that y approximately £3000 had been raised in New Zealand by schools; and colleges during the ; past two ; years, .'together with considerable quantities of clothing. The bulk of this was ; applied in the relief ?of : distress in "Russia, but it is now reported that' the greatest need ■ at -present, is in Germany, * and a conference of representatives of' the four university colleges of' New Zealand which met last Christmas recommended that ; the proceeds : of;; this - year's effort should be earmarked for Germany. •"•■>-. . •"■;•,J-'- - \-l ' " A committee of students has been appointed for the purpose of carrying on the work this year.
