THE BIBLE IN SCHOOLS.
APPROVAL AT NORTHCOTE.
In view of the fact that a bill is to be presented to Parliament this session dealing with Bible reading in State schools, the Northcoto District Schools Committee passed a resolution endorsing the principlo of Bible reading in all State schools, subject to the provision of • adequate safeguards ; against the introduction of sectarian teaching and the inclusion of a conscience clause applicable to both teachers and pupils. It . was further agreed to refer the matter, to parents and guardians of the school children, and that they bo afforded an opportunity of expressing their wishes prior to further .action being taken by the conxauttee.
