ARBITRATION COURT.
AUCKLAND SITTING OPENED. NEW PARTIES AND HEARINGS The Arbitration Court opened its Auckland sitting yesterday morning. Mr. Justice Frazer presided and -with him were Messrs. W. Scott and H. Hunter, the employers' and workers' representatives respectively. Dates were fixed for the hearing of various disputes, and in certain instances the request was mad© that a late date be allotted, because of the possibility of witnesses being unable to travel owing to the railway strike. Applications were granted for the adding of parties to the following Auckland awards:—Plumbers and Gas Fitters, Retail Shop Assistants, Tailoresses, Stone Masons and Monumental Masons, and United Storemen. Full settlements were announced in regard to disputes in the following trades: Storemen and packers, lime and cement labourers, in connection with the Wilsons Portland Cement works at Whar.garei and ■ Warkworth, stone and monumental masons and butchers. The Court postponed the contractors' labourers' dispute for further consideration. It was stated that an agreement had been arrived at by a conciliation council. Fixtures for the hearing of cases, include the following: Timber workers' and grocers} disputes, to-day; rope and twine workers,' to-morrow ; South Auckland enginedrivers' and winders', Saturday and creameries and butter factory workers,' May 8.
