CHARGE AGAINST TWO MEN ALLEGED ENTRY WITH INTENT, i . i "Accused were caught in tho act," said Chief Detective Cumraings in the Police Court yesterday, when applying for a week's remand in the- case of two young men who were charged, before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M.„' with breaking and entering the premises of tho Kaipara Wine Company, Stanley Street, on Saturday night, with intent to commit a crime. The two men, Leslio Martin, aged 26, and Frederick George Lester, aged 19. were remanded until next Monday. Bail was not sought. Accused had been arrested by Detectives: Barling and Sutherland shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday. Complaints had been received that wine was disappearing from the Wine Company's depot and on Saturday night the two detectives hid inside the store. Two men came to the premises, and while one of them kept wateh outside, the other it is alleged, entered the premises and was caught in the act of stretching out his hand to take a bottle. The other man was also arrested.
