OUTBREAKS OF FIRE.
OTAHUHU HOUSE DAMAGED,
ANZAC AVENUE WAREHOUSE
A fire occurred yesterday afternoon iij a house in Putiki Eoad, Otahuhu, owned
and occupied by Mr. Guthrie. Thai' Otahnhu Fire Brigade was quickly on th< scene, and confined the outbreak to tb« ■' attached wash-house and kitchen. Tha damage was estimated at about £60. The house was insured in the South British
office for £650, and the furniture in 'the
Eagle, Star, and Dominion office for £2QO;
The fire was caused by the ignition of C , - gas tube to the griller in the kitchen. Fire broke out early yesterday morning in the premises of Messrs. Dropoliclj Bros., gum brokers, on the top floor oi Gavin Wallace, three-storey build* ing in Anzao Avenue. The City Brigad« , answered a call shortly after four o'clock ', and extinguished the flames before much damage had been done. The premises and - ; stocks 6i Messrs. T. Carey ■ and Co.j 4 agents, and Messrs. Scott Bros., range. > ! maters on the floor below, were lightly . „ damaged by water. The cause of the out. break V not known. The building is insured for £12,000. Messrs. Dropulich's :.• insurances total £3450, in the New Zea« ;, land office, Messrs. Carey and Cb.*s £1000, ; in the Queensland office, and Messrs. Scott Bros. £150, in the State Fire office. .
