SHOW AT MATAMATA.

HUNTING COM PETITIONS.

SPECTACULAR EVENTS.

(DAIRY SECTION WEAKNESS.

.— OWS COKRTSSrOWDiKSn MATAMATA. Thursday.

The Matamata Agricultural and Fas* toral Association's fourteenth annual show was held to-day TO fine weather. There was a very largo attendance, people travelling from, all parts of the Waikato to bo present. If any evidence of the Waikato's prosperity was required it was supplied by the great number of motorcars, which extended half-way round the large show ring. The number of entries was equal to that of last year, There was, a falling off in the dairy section, the expense of preparing cattle for the prize ring no doubt being responsible for this weakness. Of the dairy cattle the Friesians were most strongly represented, with Shorthorns next. There was comparatively little competition in the Jersey and Ayrshire classes.

The main feature of the show was the equestrian events. There were large entries in all classes, and some spectacular hunting competitions were witnessed. Thirteen horses competed in the Champion Hunter class, which was won by Miss, A. Kelso's Patch. The principal results were as follows;-— HORSES. Hacks.—rOhampionship, hack: Q, Voapei* 1.
