THE BIRKENHEAD SCHOOL.
POSITION OF ADDITIONS.
The chairman of the Northcote District School Committee has refused the request that a special meeting should be convened to co-operate in organising an indignation meeting of Birkenhead householders regarding the position in the school ground selected for the new additions. This request was made by the Birkenhead and Northcote branch of the New Zealand- Labour Party. Mr. J. 1\ McPhail stated that full consideration was given by the architect before the position was decided, and he believes the interests of the children have been fully conserved. There has . been an impression locally that the new school district' would be created forthwith, and the committee elected next' month. This, however, is erroneous, as the additions will occupy some months. It is now understood that the election of the committee for the separate Birkenhead area will take place in April next year.
