- EFFECTS OF TAXATION. NEW ; BRITISH COMMITTEE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. B.IS p.m.) LONDON, Mar. 18. The Government has set up a committee to inquire into the national debt and how taxation affects trade, employment and the national credit. The chairman is Lord Colwyn. The committee also includes bankers, accountants and business men, and Mrs'. Barbara Wootton, widow, aged 27, who was educated at Girton College. Mrs. Wootton is a noted economist and capital levy expert. Her husband was killed during the war, four days after he landed in France.
