HEAVY INWARD CARGOES.
FIGURES FOR LAST MONTH. SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE. Details of the inward cargo handled at Auckland during February wer& submitted to the Auckland Harbour Board yesterday by the traffic manager. The return was a® follows:: — New Zealand, provincial and beyond the province, 31,539 tons; Pacifio Islands, 1782 tons; Nauru Island, 6700 tons; Australia, 26,620 tons; Java, 3004 tons Great Britain, 19,840 tons; Canada, 4582 tons; United States of America, 12,706 tx>n%; Calcutta, 1706 .tons; total, 108,479 tons. The returns showed a substantial increase on- tho figures for the same month of last year. The deputy-harbourmaster reported that the large shipping arriving at the port during February showed an increase of 12 vessels of 156,580 gross tons, compared with the large shipping for February of last year. Last month five warships, 26 overseas steamers, and 11 intercolonial traders arrived at thq port.
