SPECTACULAR RUNAWAY.
BOLT DOWN PARNELL RISE. DRIVER SUSTAINS INJURY. A somewhat spectacular runaway was witnessed by a number of people on Parnell hill between five and six o'clock last evening. A horse drawing a spring cart toward the city became restive at tile top of the rise, shied, and bolted down the hill. About half-way down, the backband broke and the cart tilted backwards, throwing out the driver, Mr. S. Powley, an elderly man. At first it was thought he had escaped injury, but later he was admitted to - the hospital suffering irom injuries to his ribs. The horse was stopped near tho entrance to Carlaw Park, but not before a good deal of damage had been done to the vehicle.
