ATTITUDE OF GOVERNMENT. NO UNFRIENDLY FEEDING. Times. LONDON. Feb. 22. The Cairo correspondent of the Times interviewed the Nationalist leader, Zaghlul Pasha, regarding the cancellation of Mr. Carter's license to conduct excavations. Zaghlul Pasha said the Egyptian Gov. eminent acted entirely within its rights and in a most friendly spirit throughout. Not at any moment was its action influenced by Mr. Carter's nationality. On the contrary, because of his nationality and a sincere desire that nothing should happen to disturb friendly relations between the two countries, Mr. Carter was shown special consideration and sympathy, but. unfortunately, ho did not appreciate the conciliatory attitude. Zaghlul Pasha concluded by saying he thought it was the Government's duty to defend the rights and dignity of the nation, and that is what the Egyptian Government had done. Its attitude was dictated by no other consideration.
