NEW MOTOR ROAD.
THE MANGAITI DEVIATION. NOW OPEN FOR TRAFFIC. [BT TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PUTARUEU, Monday. The Mangaiti Deviation on the Puta-ruru-Atiamuri Road 'is now open for traffic. The first cars • went through last Friday evening, and a local motorist who used the road on Saturday, reports that he traversed the five ' miles of the deviation in 15 minutes. The roadway, he says, is excellent and very creditable to the Public Works Department which carried out the work. The deviation gives a flat road in lieu of seven miles of very hilly route, including the Kopokarahi culvert, and opens a. broad highway for use all the year round, from Waikato to Rotorua, and Waikato to Wairakei, Taupo, Napier, and Wellington.
