Judah Baroht, formerly a watchmaker, was found guilty at the Supreme Court to-day on charges of theft and false pretences. The prisoner called on a resident of the Bona Bay district and received a ring with instructions to place a white sapphire in it in place of a missing diamond. When the ring was returned it. was noticed that another diamond h . been removed. Baroht denied the _ A jeweller gave evidence stating that Baroht called on him and said that the ring had been given ; to him and asked that the diamond be removed and paste substituted.
