REMOVAL OF A DIAMOND. WATCHMAKER CONVICTED. IST TELEGRAPH. press association.] WELLINGTON, Monday. Judah Baroht, formerly a watchmaker, was found guilty at the Supreme Court to-day on charges of theft and false pretences. The prisoner called on a resident of the Bona Bay district and received a ring with instructions to place a white sapphire in it in place of a missing diamond. When the ring was returned it. was noticed that another diamond h . been removed. Baroht denied the _ A jeweller gave evidence stating that Baroht called on him and said that the ring had been given ; to him and asked that the diamond be removed and paste substituted. This was done and the diamond was sold. Accused denied taking out the diamond, and said that he intended to putt a sapphire in as instruct.',d. Sentence wu deferred.
