SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP.
HANNAN V. McDEVITT. The race for the Australasian sculling championship between the holder, J. P. Hannan and W. McDevitt, will be decided on Saturday, February 2. It was originally intended to hold the race on Saturday, January 19, but as the holidays have interrupted training, and the tides were not altogether suitable, the com-; mittee has definitely postponed the fixture until the date mentioned. Roth of tha contestants are now training seriously on the upper reaches of the harbour, and the extension of time should give them ample opportunities to become familiar with local conditions. The course, which measures three miles, 500 yds., -will be from the starting point near Riverlea to the Hobsonville Wharf. Probably there will be several preliminary contests, and the com* mittee has arranged to run a. steamer to, Hobsonville for the occasion.
