THE DIRYING OUTPUT.
•. ~ ••;-'• ■>-:•" *«„ '.-.•' ' ? - INCREASED WEEKLY YIELb. Gutter deficit reduced: SUBSTANTIAL GAIN - IN : V CHEESE; . The weekly output of butter in the Auckland * district< more than - exceeds ■ that of the corresponding period of last. year, ' The v quantity received at - the ', grading stores during ; the fortnight : ended December 15 totalled 110,224 Boxes, compared with : 105,619 during the corresponding ; period of last year, an. increase, of 460t> boxes. The increase is not gfeat, but it is a strong indication that if favourable weather is experienced the- record output lof last season , may yet be eclipsed. The increasing monthly yields this season are steadily reducing the deficit of the output to date compared with that of last-year. The first fortnight's returns for ' the current' month bring the total output for the season to December 16 to 629,765 boxes, compared with 647,809, a difference in favour of last season of ; 18,016 boxes. The deficit at the end of November was 22,621, and at the end of October 38,897 boxes. Thus in six weeks there has been, a gain of over 19,000 boxes. The substantial increase in cheese output indicates that the total bru.tter.fat production of the province will exceed that of last season, provided normal weather conditions are experienced. During the first two weeks of this month' 12,252 crates were received - for grading, against 9586 for the same period of last year, an increase ,of 2666. The total quantity received for. the season to December 15 was 59,563 crates, against 29,926 for the corresponding period of last season, an increase of 29,637 ■ crates.
