DISMISSAL OF STRIKERS.
PARLIAMENTARY CONFIRMATION.

MELBOURNE, Dec. 15.
In the Legislative Assembly, Mr. G. M. Prendergast moved that the Government Gazette notifying the discharge of 634 policemen, be amended to express the view that tho Government will reinstate the strikers. The amendment was defeated.
The bulk of the strikers are gradually being accommodated in other avenues of employment, some becoming drivers, wharf labourers and tram guards.
