DISTRACTION FROM CRIME.

MELBOURNE, Dec. 15.
Mr. Basil Cooke, addressing the Institute of Journalists on wireless, remarked that he was recently tutoring the Victorian police, when he learned that some one in the underworld had stolen a receiving set, which so fascinated the circle of crooks, that they now spend their leisure hours unravelling the secrets of wireless in lieu of following criminal careers. Only one policeman was now required to patwt the quarter which previously demanded all attention of four.
