BRIDGES AT HAMILTON.
PROPOSED NEW STRUCTURE.
QUESTION OF THE' SITE.
[fit TELEGRAPH.—- CORRESPONDENT. HAMILTON, Saturday.
The fact that little has been heard lately about the proposal of the Hamilton Borough Council. (to Iconstrudt a third bridge across the Waikato River at the nerthern end of the town led members of the Ciaudelands Ratepayers' Association to express the opinion at their meeting on Thursday that tho project was being shelved. It was stated that the council had left the selection of the site to an engineer of the Public Works Department, but so far that officer had not made an inspection or report. 'I he president, Mr. A. J. Sinclair, said tho residents of Claudelands should bo consulted before the site was fixed. Tho engineer might decide on a good site from an engineering point of view, but whether that selection would suit the needs of tho residents of Claudelands and the outhihg district was another thing. Mr. W. Bourne said the congestion on the present .traffic bridge was becoming so great as to make the safety of the structure uncertain. It was absolutely essential that this congestion shoudd be relieved as soon as possible. It was unanimously agreed to ask the Borough Council to expedite action.
