NAVY AS PROTECTION.
LORD . JELLICOE'S VIEW.
MORE RECRUITS' NEEDED. [BX TELEGRAPH. —OWN OOPRESPONDENT J . WELLINGTON. Friday. " The sea means much to this Dominion," declared the Governor-General, Viscount Jellicoo, during the presentation of a Navy League Union Jack to the Muritai school. " The Chatham is only the commencement of a New Zealand Navy, which is urgently required to protect our shores and ensure that the Dominion's produce reaches the world's markets. "I have one regret," concluded His Excellency, "and that is that there are not sufficient recruits coming forward. Those who have already enrolled are splendid material, but we want more of them if these shores are to be kept inviolate."
