„ A charge of having stolen £3 was made against a girl, aged 17 years, in the Police Court yesterday before Mr. J. W. Pnynton, S.M The offence was stated to have occurred at a dance, the money being the property of another girl. Mr. A. Moody appeared for accused, who .p?eaded guilty. Counsel said .that the girl had yielded to a sudden impulse. He asked that a conviction be not recorded against her. Senior-Sergeant Rawle remarked that tho girl was very fond of dancing and kept very late hours with young men. Sho needed to be controlled. The magistrate agreed with tho suggestion. YOUTH STEALS BICYCLE.

The theft of a bicycle, valued at £15, was admitted by a 17-year-old boy, who gave himself up to the Devonport police. II was stated that accused and a friend of his found the bicycle outside an office, and they took it to sell to a dealer. Accused's companion had gone to Sydney, but it. was considered that the.two were equally blameworthy. The boy was placed on probation for two years. i .

VAGRANT SENT TO GAOL, In the early hours of yesterday morning George Savilie, aged 36, waj observed wandering about the streets. \ When questioned by a constable, he said he had no home and! nc. money. A plea of guilty was entered by three men, Charles Allen, C. Gunn, and J. Gunn (Mr. Sullivan), who were found in unlawful possession of oysters. MISCELLANEOUS CASES., On a charge of having obtained £5 by means of a * valueless cheque at Pirongia, Cyril Henry Thomas, aged 26, was remanded to appear at To Awamutuioh Tuesday. .''/■' A third offender for drunkenness, William Betts, aged 67, was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment. , Two second offenders, John Flanagan, aged 60, and Joseph Braslin, aged 43, were fined £2. in default three days' imprisonment. A second-hand dealer, John Alfred Basten (Mr. Herman), was fined £5 for not having a license. For Sunday 'trading, Mary Meuk was fined 20s and costs. .
