The spirit and principles of the Bible as tho one remedy for the world's unrest and discontent was the outstanding idea advanced by Bishop Averill when prosiding at the annual meeting of the Auckland auxiliary to the British and Foreign Bible Society. He emphasised the indebtedness of the churches to. the society, expressing the view that the world-wide missionary enterprises could not have possibly been i carried out without the society's co-o*peration. The annual report showed that the year's income was the highest on record. New branches had been formed at Waharoa, Henderson, Glen Eden, New Lynn, and Avondale.

The following • officers- were elected for the ensuing year i—President, Bishop Averill. Vice-presidents: CrVm Haselden, Rev. G. Bond, Rev. J. W. Kemp, Rev. Fraser Barton, and Mr. H. M. Smeeton. Hon. trasurer: Mr. A. Macdonald. Hon. auditor: Mr. T. E. Whitton. The general committee was reelected, with the addition of the Revs. G. Coats and W. J. Ralph. The 119 th report, which was presented at the annual meeting of the society in London last May, shows that the society issued the Scriptures in 558 different forms of speech.
