CUSTOMS DUES LOWER.

COLLECTIONS AT AUCKLAND.

NOVEMBER A SLACK MONTH.

LARGE INCREASE FOR YEAR.

The customs revenue collected at the port of Auckland during November shows a slight decrease on that collected during the corresponding month of last year. This is probably due to chance circumstances in connection-with the overseas shipping services. The month of November was a comparatively slack period as fax as arrivals -were concorned.

In all probability the difference will Me more than compensated for this month, when a particularly busy time is expected in the port. Seventeen steamers >;re due from the United Kingdom and America alone with cargo to discharge here, excluding those _ vessels which will arrive from Australia, the Islands, and other ports. The net custdms revenue collected last month totals £163,716, compared with £166.106 collected during November last year a decrease of £2,390. For the first 11 months of the year the total is £2,005,997, as against £1,529,088 for the corresponding period of 1922, an increase of £476,909. The following table shows the net customs returns for the first 11 months of this year compared with those of the corresponding period of last year: —
