MEAT PACKERS' TRADE.

GOVERNMENT INVESTIGATION COMPANIES REFUSE ACCESS. A. and N.Z. WASHINGTON. Nov, 23. Another legal battle is impending between " The Big Five " meat packers and the United States Government. The Secretary for Agriculture, Mr. H. C. I. Wallace, has attempted, under the provisions of recent Federal laws governing the stockyards, to lace Government auditors in the offices of packing companies with powers to investigate and publish all the facts concerning their business. Mr. Wallace claims that the nation is vitally concerned with the packers' activities, arid should be informed thereon.

The Swift, Cudahy, and Wilson companies refused access to the auditors, declaring the Government's demand an invasion of constitutional rights. It is expected that the Armour and Morris Companies will do the same and that the case will be fought in the Courts.
