WAR MEMORIAL MUSEUM.

PRESENTATION FUND GIFT.

MR. NICHOLSON'S DECISION.

A meeting was held yesterday afternoon at the Mount Eden Bowling . Club's green in connection with the movement to co-operate ,in the public appeal for the War Memorial Museum Committee.

The objects of the movement were explained by Mr. O. Nicholson, a'member of the War Memorial Committee, and exMayor of Mount Eden. Mr. Nicholson said he would give the collection in the district a start by donating to it a special fund. Some years ago the residents had collected a sum of money which it was proposed to devote to some recognition of the services - which he and his late wife had Rendered during his term aa Mayor. He had never consented !to accept such a sum for any personal use. He did not think any more worthy object could be found for it than the war memorial. He would therefore, ■ hand over this sum, amounting to nearly £300, as a start for the Mount " Eden effort. Mr. E. H. Potter, Mayor of Mount Eden, stated that he would submit a proposal to the boroucjL council to give £300 as the council's contribution to the fund. In. addition, arrangements would be made to canvass the distriot.
