. The special correspondent of the Morning Post at Luxor states that Mr. Carter investigated the interior of the first shrine in Tutankhamen's tomb. The Egyptian Government's seals on . tho second are still unbroken. Mr. Carter found between the first and second shrines several treasures, including four jars, two stated to be of alabaster. Other pottery ware was also discovered, and symbols of a duck and of what are believed to be two apes were also found.

The Egyptian Government, in a communique, states that tho Government will distribute news of finds in the tomb daily, and will facilitate tho visits of 15 journalists to the interior once a fortnight. The Government vindicates its authority over the tomb by stating that the staff of the Antiques Department in the Valley of the Tombs of the Kings has been strengthened in order to ensure continuous and close supervision. A chief inspector and three officials have been delegated for this purpose. i

The Prime Minister of Egypt told a deputation of Egyptian journalists that ho would arrange for all reports of the

work at Tutankhamen's tomb to be published in the Cairo papers 'before appearing in tho London Times. He promised equality of treatment for all Egyptian papers as well as for foreign journalists.
