INQUEST ADJOURNED.

' When Mrs; Kavanagh, wife oi' Mr. Thomas Kavanagh. labourer, of Clarence Street, Hamilton, went to take her fort-night-old -baby out' of its cot about 8 o'clock yesterday morning she found the infant dead. An inquest - was opened ) before Mr. H. A. Young, S.M., to-day. Evidence -was given that about - . one o'clock yesterday morning the • mother lifted the baby, which ■ was a prematurely born infant, from its cot, and placed it in bed alongside her, -where she fed it at the breast. ; • She fell asleep while .ft was feeding and awakened again ■at day- i light, when the baby was still at , her breast. She lifted' it back" into its cot without noticing its condition. When she arose at eight o'clock she .found the child dead.
The inquest was adjourned to enable medical evidence to 'be obtained,>'
