The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows : Present indications are for strong northerly winds, backing to southerly and dull, misty •weather, with rain - probable generally. The barometer is likely to rise everywhere soon. HERALD SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 48 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening: — Tropical influences . continue to. dominate weather conditions in northern districts, i while a persistent Antarctic disturbance ! still operates in the South. Consequently the weather over the week-end is likely to be chiefly unsettled, with heavy showers at times, but periods of fine, bright conditions will intervene. Moderate to strong, though squally at intervals, northerly to westerly winds prevailing. Seas fairly rough, especially on West Coast. Barometer, midnight, 29.65 in.; steady. — RAINFALL RECORD.
