MILK FROM MANUREWA.
FARMERS AND RAILWAY.
A deputation representative- of the " town-supplying " dairy-farmers of Manurewa, Tekanini, and Alfriston, comprising Messrs. C. S. McCallum and M. Friedlander, waited on the district traffic manager, Mr. A. K. Harris, on Tuesday, with a request that the 8.6 a.m. train from Manurewa should still bo available as a medium of transporting milk to the city. Mr. C. S. McCallum was chief spokesman. The deputation was accorded a sympathetic hearing by the traffic manager, who, however, dwelt on the seriousness of the position as affecting the departure of the train. Eventually he agreed to give the farmers another " trial," the continuance of the present system depending on a minimum of delay in the loading of the milk. Messrs. McCallum and Fiiedlauder, on returning to Manurewa, met several of' the runners concerned, and all expressed indignation at the attitude of the department. An indignation meeting of farmers and the Chamber of Commerce will be held at Manurewa on Monday evening, when the subject will be further discussed.
