POSSESSION OF A HOUSE.

ORDER MADE BY MAGISTRATE.

' A claim for the possession of a dwelling adjoining tho Grafton School, brought by the Education Board (Mr. Reid) against the tenant, Charles Brady (Mr. Brady), was heard in the Magistrate's Court yesterday before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. ' . -~:.:v-.-. '. •:,,,- :

Counsel for plaintiff stated that the property had been bought by the board from defendant in 1919 for £1500, the intention being to remove the house and add the section to the school *".* playground. Some difficulty was experienced in obtaining a grant for this work, and the board allowed defendant to continue in occupation of the hoi .3 at a weekly rental 'of £1 2s 6d. The board having completed arrangements for the extension of the playground, the house was sold for removal about four months ago, an J the tenants were notified that they were to vacate the dwelling as soon as possible. The Magistrate: •: I do not call that a fair proposal. ....■'-. : > : :: : '.t : : ■;•' ■ Defendant then "offered to vacate within one month, and the magistrate accepted this, making an order for possession accordingly. Costs amounting to £1 3s were allowed against defendant.
