POLICE COURT NEWS.
FAILURE TO ATTEND DRILL.
FINE OF TWO POUNDS IMPOSED.
A prosecution under the Defence Act against R. Heywood for failure to attend drill resulted in a fine of £2 being imposed by Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday. It was stated defendant had been charged with ~th"e offence previously,- and had been given an opportunity to attend special parades and make up the arrears. His commanding officer reported that defendant had not taken advantage of the chance given him, and'had attended only three parades out of a total of 13.
MISCELLANEOUS CHARGES. A third offender for drunkenness, Colin Campbell Clyde Brown, aged 30, was fined £5, iii default seven days' imprisonment, ' : '■'■■ s '."■*■■ A charge of having damaged a show case in Ponponby Road, valued at £2, was preferred against William James Moore, aged 37. On the application of Senior-Sergeant Rawle, accused was remended until next Wednesday,, bail being allowed at £50.
