The Tauranga County Council, at its last meeting, considered a report submitted by .committee in regard to the allocation of the loan moneys. A ecnedulo, setting out the allocations for the various districts, was included in, the report, which was adopted. It was decided to communicate with the Highways Board and ascertain upon what terms tho council could obtain the necessary loan moneys to defray its share of the cost of construction upon the primary roads under the board's control. A communication was read from the Public Trustee intimating that the Public Trust Office was entertaining applications for loans for local bodies at 6 per cent., plus 2 per cent, sinking fund, for a period of 20 years. . The council decided to ask the Public Trustee what would be the rate of interest and sinking fund for a loan spread over 36 years. . The Te Puke; Town Board's proposal!! as a basis of an agreement for the maintenance of roads contiguous to the Town Board's area were agreed to. A motion to declare the Waihi Swamp Road to be a main road alter March 31 ! next was carried. A similair motion ill regard to ! No= 2 Road, To Puke, was negatived, i ■ It was decided that half the cost of two bridges in the Te Puke Riding, destroyed by flood, bo borne by the general county fund. It was decided to make representations to the Minister for Lands concerning a request for access to lands in the Waipapa district where the, Crown also holds an area of 850 acres. : : Mr. Lallv read a letter received by him from the Auditor-General upholding his contention that tho assets and liabilities of the 'merged road board are assets and liabilities of the county. The council decided to communicate with the AuditorGeneral on a certain point raised by Mr. Lally' regarding riding balances in the balance-sheet. :,'*
