New Zealand scenery and the picturesque charm of life in the country dictricts, it stands unsurpassed. The presentation .; plate, representing an 'early morning scene on the Waitemata, is one of the most attractive that has yet been' issued with the Christmas number. It is the work of the staff photographer, and depicts a familiar scene on the western waterfront, a boat with brown sails set, and a flock of gulls wheeling over the still waters; while in the middle distance lies the city, its tall smokestacks giving evidence of the activity of a new day. Tho colouring is soft and subdued, and in harmony with the subject of the picture. The cover, picture, is strongly in contrast—a vivid and colourful representation of a young sportsman returning from a day's duck shooting on one of the quiet reaches of the Waikalo. "•■•'•../. -■ The interest of the Christmas Number centres as 'always in its beautiful collection of photographs, printed in soft tints on heavy art paper. Although an. enlarged edition of the Christmas Number has been printed this year, it will probably prove inadequate to the great demand, so that all those desiring to procure a copy should place their orders without delay. .-.-
