MAN CUTS HIS THROAT.
RESULT OF DEPRESSION. AFFECTED BY BROTHER'S DEATH. [St TEliEauArn.--OWN CORBESrONDENT.] THAMES, Saturday. An inquest was held to-day, at Ngjrua, on the body of William Duncan Guy, who was found dead in his hut at Ngatea. Hauraki Plains, last evening with bis throat cut. The evidence showed that the deceased had been in the employ of the Lands Department at the; Hauraki Plains for some years past, and that after last week-end he had been at Thames attending the funeral of his brother, who had died after a long illness from miner's complaint. When he returned to Ngatea he was much depressed, and talked of the great suffering that his brother had endured during the latter portion of his life. He expressed a hope that he would not have to put- up with the. same thing. 1 - The deceased had also contracted miners' complaint, as he had followed tho . occupation of a miner for many years. He left his work on Thursday, drew ' his wages due on Friday, and paid up his account at the store. He said "good-bye" to his friends, stating that it was his intention of leaving, but he was found lying on the bed in his hut a few hours later quite dead, with his' throat cut, and with an open razor in his hand. A verdict of suicide, while in a depressed state ,of mind, was returned. The deceased, who was a native of Thames, was a single man, 46 years 'of age, and was weir and favourably known throughout the district. ... ....
