The successful specialty salesman, Mr. Hutchinson said, stood at the top of his. profession " On his ' proficiency; in the business of .selling - depended the efforts of'-: perhaps hundreds of workers, and he must . never cease to fit himself for the big responsibility (hat; was his. v There were no born salesman. Successful salesmen- had achieved success only by the same, means : ; that achieve -success for the heads of any profession or art, that is, by hard work. - - Replying to a question in regard to advertising, the lecturer said that money and right advertising .methods would put anything oft ; the market, but only the worth of the article would keep 'it there. He Would undertake, ;■ given ;..£ sufficient money to spend on* advertising, to sell mud dug from the harbour as a beauty cream, and have nearly every woman plastering her.;face with "it within a month,; but he would not undertake to keep it on- the market. 1 He , concluded "with a practical -'.demonstration'-. of the art of salesmanship, by selling' five pound debentures issued by,:; the. club, in such an irresistible manner that: nearly every member present subscribed, ''Mr. Hutchinson heading the list.
