ONEHUNGA ORPHANS' CLUB.
The largest attendance of this year's session of the Onehunga Orphans'. Club was recorded on Saturday evening, when the chairman for the evening was the Mayor, Mr. " J. E. Cowell. Municipal bodies were well represented, Mr. Geo. Baildon, a member of the City Council, and Mr. H. R. Mackenzie, chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, being present. Others present . w<reMessrs. Todd, Rhodes, Clark, and Tausley (representing Otahuhu, Mt. Albert/, One Tree Hill, and Mt. Roskill). Mr. Mackenzie, who had to submit to a litle banter, gave an assurance that the new wharf _ was likely ito be commenced and finished much sooner than the people of Onehunga realised. The president asked members to stand in silence out of respect to the memory of the late Mrs. Broughton, who had. died durinc the week. Mr. E. V. Sutherland, musical director, had an excellent programme arranged. Songs and other items were rendered by Messrs. F. E. "Sutherland, T. B. Rowe, C. Suisted, and Mee (Dunedin), (Geo. Bush (Wellington), E. V. and F. E. Sutherland., Hill, and Harman, and Professor Maxwell Walker. The orchestra, with /Mr. G. H. Hardey as conductor, played several selections.
