In the Supreme Court, Joseph Harvey Cornish, found guilty on three out of six charges of obtaining money by false pretences in regard to an invention controlling the ri:;6 and fall of the swell of the sea for mechanical purposes, was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment. Mr. Justice Salmond, when sentencing prisoner-* said these offences were not isolated ones, but episodes in a career of crime. 1
