FOOTBALL FIELD FRACAS.
INCIDENT AT TE AROHA.
UNION TAKING ACTION. [BX TELEGRAPH. — CORRESPONDENT.] TE AKOHA. Tuesday. The two junior Rugby players. Thomas Farmer, of Manawaru, and Lipsey, of the Te Aroha Terriers, who were ordered off the field during the progress of a football match at Te Aroha on Saturday, " for threatening behaviour, appeared before the Piako Rugby Union this evening. The evidence of the referee and the offenders' went to show that Lipsey throughout the game aggravated the Manawaru player by nagging" at him, and that ultimately the latter struck Lipsey. The union impressed upon the offender® the seriousness of the charges, and in an endeavour to keep the sport clean it disqualified Farmer .for two years and Lipsey for one year. . Regarding the referee's decision in stopping the game and awarding the honours to the Terriers, who were at the time leading by 3 points to 0, the union d<» cided to write to headquarters for a ruling on the question.
