For three or,-0-four years he was in the Armed Consta- \ bulary. In 1882 he Was transferred to,- , the ordinary police, and for a time was stationed at Tirnaru. Later he served at Qroymoutlt, Wellington, Auckland, ' T« - Kuiti, Whangarei, ;• Christchurch, Wiihi, and- Hamilton. He was longest stationed;.; 7, at Whangarei,. where he commenced hIS ! ' duties m ISQI. He was transferred to Christchurch with the rank of sergeant. His next move was to Tima.ru, and after,; being there nine months he was promoted to the rank of inspector and transferred : j to Auckland. His next shift was to Ham- . ilton; and from there, about 18 months ago, he was transferred to Christchurch with the rank of superintendent.
