QUEEN'S WHARF FATALITY,,
ATTEMPTS TO RESCUE , FAIL
% A drowning accident, ; resulting In; the death of a Maori, Morehti Titotrei a' seaman on the Government.steamer Tutariokai, occurred early on Saturday ; ! evening. It is stated that" deceased, in the company of other seamen, was attempting to board the steamer, which was- lying at the western ■ side of -the Queen's Wharf, at about 6.20; p.m., when ho fell into the sea. He was not seen again, and '"t is thought ; be. struck his head ou one of the piles of the wharf. Two f other seamen. ■ Mr. ■/. Martin, a fireman on the Mahaha,; and Mr. Knight, a: trimmer on ,■ the . Wairuna,, immediately, dived -in • after the unfortunate man but could not 'find him.
