PANAMA TO AUCKLAND.
THREE" STEAMERS ENGAGED.
Three large steamers, the Papa/oa. Clau Mackenzie,, and Trekieve, are 'putting up an impromptu ocean, race between ;Panama and Auckland.• The three ■: were all .'re-. ported to have arrived at Colon on' July 30. ; The Paparoa is a New Zealand Shipping Company's liner, and is' en route from Liverpool. The. : Trekieye • and '. the Clan : Mackenzie are ,1 both i coming, trom New York, the former being a Ham Line, steamer running under the auspices; of the A. and A. Line, and the latter being under charter to the Commonwealth \ and Do-' minion ; Line. The Paparqa is expected here about August 22. : The other two steamers,, which are slower than the Panj,roa, but are about equal in speed to i each other, . are , due ';•' toward the end •■: of < the month. . . ■ -,""',.'' •
