ALLOCATION BY ISLANDS. BASIS OF VEHICLES. ANNUAL REGISTRATION. [BY TELEGRAPH^—-SPECIAL reporter] WELLINGTON, Wednesday. An assurance that the* Government will apportion the motor tyro tax revenue under the Main Highways' Act in accordance with the number of motor vehicles registered in each island wa 8 given by the Minister for Public Works, the Hon. J., G. Coates,' to Mr. P. A.: de la Perelle (Awarua) in the House of Representatives to-day. The Minister .stated the Government is satisfied that Section 21 of the Act places a statutory, duty upon the board to allocate tyre ; tax and< motor vehicle annual license fees as between the North and South Islands on the' basis of the number of vehicles in use in both islands. To enable . this to :be done, it will, of course, be necessary to have 1 all motor vehicles registered annually., in order that the number of ; motor vehicles in each island may be definitely determined each year. .
